From Version 2.7.5 Canoe123 supports transmission of Live Results to the Internet.
This feature has beta state right now but we used it already during the International Slalom Competition in Merano. The feature can be tested on a free basis for now.
How does this work:

To use this function you need a internet connection available either on the Canoe123 main machine or on a Canoe123 OFFLINE machine. We suggest to use this function right now only from an OFFLINE machine.
If you do not have an internet connection at the venue you can use also a mobile connection. To minimize the traffic costs in such a case, all data is zipped before sent to the server. In fact, our 1st test was entirely transmitted to the web with a mobile phone.
All Live Internet controls are in the new main toolbar item “Live Internet” (see The User Interface). The menu is only visibile if the required internet account username and password are set (see Settings).
To begin a live internet session, call the 1st menu item “Publish Event to Webserver (Init Live Results)” This function uploads all needed information of your event to the webserver. This step must be redone after you restart Canoe123 or after a new event is loaded.
After this 1st step, only updates of results are send. If you have bigger changes in the schedule or start list you can repeat the 1st step any time you want.
There are several “update strategies”:
- Every Change (suggested only if a broadband connection is available)
- Manual Updates
- After OFFLINE Reload (suggested if internet service is done from an OFFLINE machine)
As the system is designed that practically multiple events can be hosted the same time, each Event published needs a unique Id: If you specify a “Central Database Id” on your event settings, this will be the Id, otherwise the “filename” of your event is used.
To access the live results on the internet use the following address (example)

EventId and User Parameter must be adjusted in your Canoe123 settings. You can use username "demo" with password "demo" for testing (License). The Test event has to have the EventId "Test1" (Event Settings Description).
You can easily link to the live results from you webpage and include it as a popup window.
The live results page uses the latest dynamic web technology. Results are reloaded automatically and also changes between the categories are implemented without reloading the page giving the end user a rich viewing expierence.
The Live Internet service is free for the 2007 season. From 2008 on this will be a extra service. The prices for the hosting of the live results are not defined yet.
